2 Hours - VS Spar finishing and dimples

Here is the tricky spar and stiffener. Now with the correct countersink drilled in it. It all fits together nicely now. The stiffener got some scratches and gouges in it when I was drilling the lightening holes, so I did a lot of scotchbrite work on it tonight. I got all of the ugly stuff out, and you'll never know once it's primed and assembled. I also did some experimenting with scrap today to figure out ideal countersinks and how it all fits together. I also riveted it so see it in 'final' form. Easy stuff, now that I have a little knowledge and experience...

Here you can see my 'ready to prime' parts. You can see the scotchbite wheel marks all over the stiffener. Good thing it's gonna be primed, as it's kinda ugly now. I have quickly learn a truism about building aluminum planes. Dimpling sucks! My hands are kinda sore now and I only made a few dimples.. I really need to splurge and buy a pnuematic squeezer. I'll think of it as an investment in my health, so as to save me from arthritis later in life...
