Today I did all the finishing work on the elevator stiffeners (deburring, dimpling). Then I went about the task of alumipreping and alodining everything, including redoing that stuff I did last weekend. I built a wooden trough and lined it with plastic. It worked much better than brushing it all on... Here is a lot of the stuff I did last weekend, re-etched...
Here are all the elevator stiffeners ready for alodine..
Before all this went down, I made a morning trip to Lowes. I had to return that crappy drill press I got since one of the belt spindles broke while I was doing the lightening holes in the VS spar stiffener. It also had a little wobble, so it didn't drill well. I got this Delta drill press instead. It was $20 more, but it looks to be much better so far.
After a bunch more work, I had all the parts alodined. Now I've just got to prime them and I should be able to start final assembling my first parts. Not too much though, as I am still waiting on my DRDT-2 dimpler. It is supposed to ship 2/28, so that's when I'll be able to dimple the skins and finally finish some parts.
