Well, I didn't finish the rudder yesterday even though I had high hopes. I had just the trailing edge left. So, today I installed the 3 eye bolts that will attach the rudder to the VS. The long bolt was kinda bunged up on the end and wouldn't go into the nutplate. So I hacked off the last 2 threads and polished the end down a little with the scotchbrite wheel. After a little persuasion it finally went in just fine. And the threads come out the other end of the nutplate still, so it is plenty long.
Then it was a bunch of staring at the trailing edge and thinking about it. I guess I'll just have to make a trip to Lowes and get some epoxy or something and do like the instruction say -- glue it together while clecoed to and angle to hold it straight, then, after it's hardened, put the rivets in there and back rivet them in. Although this guy has an alternative method that he used on his ailerons, but it'll require grinding down squeezer dies, and I don't have any 'extras' of those, so it'd be a $15 adventure for me. And I'm not sure how to go on this. So that was where a lot of my plane building time went today. And I didn't get any pictures of me sitting there looking dumb :)
