I started the work on my last sub-assembly today. Here is the trim tab skin with the spar clecoed on and drilled to the bottom. The hinge is in the midst of being clamped on the top half of the spar. It was all drilled and the hinge was cut to length.
Here are the parts after being drilled, deburred, and dimpled. I still have the bending of the trim tab skin to do. I've heard it's common to mess this up, so I'll have to be extremely careful with it. Honestly, though, it doesn't appear terribly difficult at the moment. But I know how that turns out sometimes.
Here are ALL of the remaining parts waiting to be primed. I didn't get to it last weekend as I planned. Mostly because of other distractions and the fact that it was so nice out I just had to relax and enjoy it a bit. Also there were only a few remaining parts and I'd rather just do the whole batch at once. It'll probably take me the whole weekend to do it all. If it works out, though, I can do the etch and alodine on a long Friday night and the priming all on Saturday. But I'm not going to count on that. The priming is definitely a one day effort, but the etch/alodine might take longer than one evening. Then it's all final assembly and riveting left after that. And I'll have the majority of the empennage kit completed. Really it'll just be the fiberglass tips after that. Although, I hear that can take a significant amount of time to do as well. It's getting close to time for me to order the wing kit, as soon as I figure out where all the $ is going to come from...
