5.5 Hours - Assembled elevators skeletons and trim tab

Today I started work on the elevators. Here's a pic of the counterweight ribs being riveted together. This was interesting, as getting the squeezer around the ribs with flanges on both sides was kinda tough. I had to use the longeron yoke, and adjust the squeezer depth after I had put it in place. Then I just left it on there between removing clecoes and riveting each hole. Today I really put all of my different yokes to use. I think my mix of regular 3", no-hole 4" and longeron yokes is the right combo to squeeze anything that can be squeezed. Another part that made this go a little quicker is that I assembled right and left at the same time. It made for fewer yoke changes and adjustments overall.

Here's all the assembled pieces at the end of the day. The trim tab was interesting to assemble, as well. I was again kinda careless and didn't read ALL of the instructions before starting on it. So I was wondering why some things weren't done before and I went ahead and did them just to find out later that I did them out of sequence. The biggest one is the holes that get drilled in the end tabs on the trim tab. You're not supposed to do that until fitting it to the elevator and checking for straightness and alignment. Supposedly you can use hole position to help align it and remove any twist that may be present. It looks pretty straight to me, so if any adjustment is needed I'll have to try the brute force method. We'll see if that causes problems after the elevators are assembled. Although, I could probably claim at this point that the trim tab is completed...
