To get myself all motivated again I needed to clean up the shop. It was a mess and had been for a while. This all started with the 'neighborhood cleanup' day that we have every spring and fall. They haul in giant dumpsters that anyone in the neighboorhood can dump anything in that they want. First thing that went was the crating from the fuselage... It was nice not having to break it up and instead just heave it out of the pickup into the big trash can. Then went several more pickup loads of yard waste, old boxes that were in the attic, and whatever else we decided that we didn't use in the 5 years we've been here and was its time to go. And once everything else was clean, I had to do the same for the workshop (and it was a little less full of junk now anyways). My goal was to get as much stuff off of the shelves as possible since they were all overflowing. As you can see, things like my rivet bins were hung up (and I bought a second one). I also moved big pieces of scrap (like my bad-from-the-factory HS skin and my bad-from-dimpling-slip LE skin) up to the attic, as well as arranging things a bit better...
And I bought the thing I should have bought on day 1 (or even earlier), a TOOLBOX! I'd lived without it too long. All my tools were either on the shelf on the bottom of the workbench or the shelves on the walls. They got dusty and were always hiding under parts or other tools... Believe me, this is MUCH better, I was a fool for not spending the $500 on this before I even got any tools or the empennage kit. Priscilla likes it too, as she can now find a screwdriver or hammer when she needs one (thanks to my labels). She also likes the garage not being a disaster, too...
She's also a fan of bright lights, and as you can see I added two more 2x40W flourescent fixtures, as well as a 30W 'cool white' CF bulb in the center. The cool white bulb looks WAY too blue to use anywhere in the house, so it found a nice home in the workshop. So I can really see with 350W of flourescent lighting in there now! Priscilla says, "It doesn't look like a dungeon anymore". :) Also I installed an outlet on the ceiling next to the other one. It is switched with the light switch on the wall so I don't have to use the power strip switch anymore. Very convenient!
